the nets of Nephila are truely impressive!!
They are! Have you seen them in Central America too? They were everywhere in the area I was staying in – it was considered a successful day if I didn’t accidentally walk in to a web and end up with a Golden Orb on me 😉
I have seen them in many countries – from Panama to Brazil, in Africa, and also in Asia. But I remember when I saw them first in South Africa with their very strong golden threats… not a good fantasy to step head-first into one of those webs… 🙂
Wow – I had no idea they were so widespread. Also, wow to the number of places you’ve been! No, it wasn’t particularly nice – especially because when there was a web on me it usually meant there was a spider on me!
yeah – I don’t want to imagine that… fortunately, they don’t bite… 🙂
I thought the same, but my friend did get bitten and although the bite isn’t venomous she said it was extremely painful. So I count myself lucky I wasn’t bitten!
wow – I didn’t know that… good thing I always stayed clear of these webs… 🙂 another case of “looking, not touching!”
haha yes, I tend to obey that rule religiously in the tropics!
🙂 oh man, now I really feel like travelling again…!!
Haha, well then I think you should! Although by the sounds of it you’ve already seen so many places… but of course there is always more to see 🙂
exactly! what about you? what is your next destination?
I’m going back to university to do my last year of Zoology now! After that, who knows 🙂 Where are you off to next?
